Beautiful Fragments II, 6.20

A bit more than ten years ago I discovered a unique lens in the Canon lineup, the MP-E 65. This lens offers a 1-5X magnification on a full-frame camera. You can get “TINY BIG”. While challenging to focus, light and control, the lens lets you see things differently. While I’m not especially a fan of bugs (and my wife is repelled by all crawlies) I am mesmerized by the beautiful details found in butterfly and moth wings. It was time to shoot another batch of these broken pieces - what I call Beautiful Fragments. I reached out to Butterfly Utopia, the same place where I bought pieces those ten years ago and they were able to send me another batch of bits and pieces.

The setup, one strobe at a low angle, one LED panel for easier focusing and a tethered setup through Lightroom for capture.
