RavenBot Workshop : Carvings from Q3, 2021

Learning more with each carving and discovering what I liked and didn’t the summer of Q3 I continued to explore this new medium. Carvings got a bit larger overall and some ‘playable’ carvings were born as well as finding a few themes that are sticky. Some may be available on my Etsy Shop.

#067, Sunburst Steve

21.09, Sunburst Steve is my 67th character carving. He was carved from a basswood block by hand using Harley and Girtner knives and Pfeil gouges. Steve was then painted by hand with Liquitex artists-grade heavy body acrylic. Steve is numbered and initialed on the bottom with my initials, 2021 and #67. 3-1/2” tall, 2” wide and 1-1/8” deep.

#065, Lurkers

21.09, Lurkers is my 65th carving and was carved from basswood by hand and then painted with artists-grade acrylic and a touch of drybrushed silver highlights. Lurkers is numbered and initialed on the bottom with my initials, 2021 and #65. Measures just over 4-3/4” tall, 1-5/8” wide and 1” deep.

Robot Lab

21.08 - As I was carving robots it occured to me that they needed a home. Fun carve and something I’ll do more of. It makes the photos that much better too.

#064, Rusty the Owl

21.08, Rusty tends to throw his weight around - even though he’s a lightweight. Rusty was hand carved from basswood with Harley and Girtner knives plus Pfeil Swiss-Made gouges then painted with artists-grade heavy body acrylic. Don’t let his glossy eyes fool you he’s paying attention. Rusty the Owl measures 4-5/8” tall, 2-1/2” wide and 2” deep.
