Alabama Hills Tri-Tone - my first digital painting on Procreate.
I started working with a tablet app called Procreate after seeing a buddy at the office (@wafflegripper) do some drawing on his iPad. Its been a couple years, but I had tried several different painting/drawing apps but nothing really clicked. Procreate was different; It was smooth, responsive and very natural. I was intrigued so starting doing some paintings with it. The first was decidedly landscape and then I started doing paintings of buddies overland rigs, so @overlandart was born and I started a new Instagram channel just for these. I’ll be building a library of these over time and may eventually do something more commercial and/or take commission works, time will tell, but right now I’m enjoying experimenting and learning…

And here’s a “making of” timelapse of the process. Procreate is a great app! I’m running this on a 2+ year old iPad Pro (12.9”) and these files are getting layered up pretty heavily (15+ layers). Loving it!
