Ok, last of my catch-up posts! I hadn’t realized a couple things about this blog - I missed recording some of these memories with more detail, its worth more attention and that I’ve got to build some routine into these postings.

Anyway, yes there has been A LOT of carving through the first quarter of this year. Practice with faces has paid off and I’m carving with more forethought and not racing (well trying not to.)

Roses in front of the house came in strong after being cut way back in Jan.

Got a desert camping trip in and had a nice couple days of camping and carving out near Anza Borrego.

After carving a number of warriors and gruff fellows I wanted to challenge myself with a new, more friendly carving. After some simple modeling with a clay and wire armature ‘doodle’ a fun idea stuck. With that in mind, this guy developed into a nice a storyteller as well as my largest carving from stock so far.

I’ll be updating my Carving catalog next, they’ll be here.
