Sizzlin’ Summer, 8.24
Well, summer has been pretty hot this year and work has been pretty intense the last month and a half-ish so haven’t been up to much other than work and indoor hobbies. Summer’s heat hammered the garden and I didn’t have the watering set high enough, so our tomato’s didn’t pan out very well. We did however have a bumper crop of cucumbers and we’ve enjoyed fresh cucumber salad and fridge-pickles.
Beth has been enjoying her annual pass at Disneyland with her sister and our nieces as much as their schedules allow.
Beth and I made it to the fair on a thursday and took in a figure-8 race and then “Motorhome Madness” (say that in your wrastlin’ announcer voice) where local Police and Fire Chiefs and the Sheriff had a crash up derby with RVs. That was definitely the highlight for July.
I’ve spent a bunch of free time time carving with a focus on faces. Along that patch I hit on a new fun theme and have done a few ‘big backpack gnomes’. There will definitley be more of those, its my own idea and fun to find the figure in them. Definitely takes a lot longer than carving from a roughout, but they’re all mine.
Anyway, onto some pics…
Fresh and fridge-pickled cucumbers from the garden have been tasty and abundant. Some pickled peppers along the way too.
All the flowers are one of my favorite displays at the fair.
Motorhome Madness with local LE and Fire Chiefs and the Sheriff going at it. That was a blast.
That’s the start of summer, thanks for reading.
