Work, Surprise, Work, Carve, 03.26

Another mostly busy month or so has passed. Actually almost a couple, but that’s how it goes.

Work is good. As I’ve likely said before I’m being stretched without being overly stressed. Its good to feel challenges, and moments of “I’m making it up as I go.” aren’t a stranger. I find it good to embrace those.

I got in a desert camp trip out near Joshua Tree with the LandOps Ham Radio Club, spent most of the time carving, plus some visiting and a fun/easy trail run in late January. Then in February, I had a couple of work holidays and added a vacation day in-between to make the drive up to Modesto to surprise my parents. Had a quick chance to catch up with a good friend and then drove into the Carizzo Plain National Monument to try and see wildflowers. I saw some, but it was nice to see the north end of that monument.

Then, back into work mode where I was prepping for a conference in San Francisco. We had a small booth and distributed the CourtWays catalog to interested attendees. It was a conference for court technology and mostly focused on AI. Good learning and has already inspired some new work, some of which I wrote about here.

Other than that, I’ve been carving, being a homebody and trying to get the dog to eat…

My good friend Philip - to quote him “We’re the last generation of swiss army knives…”

Then there were the carvings… New things, exploring more storytelling and refining my faces. If you’d like to see more, including some behind-the-scenes pics, click.

And I went down a rabbit hole with running some of my carving photos through ChatGPT and prompting different environments for them. Super fun IMO but apparently somewhat polarizing to some carving groups. Regardless, they definitely enhance the storytelling, enjoy! And yes, several of these are available on my Etsy shop. ;)

Closing out with the doggo pic since it seems I’ve made that something of a habit. Gabby catching afternoon sun through the miniblinds.
